These are wonderful - where did you find them? I used to live in Budapest and so enjoyed the national gallery there which is in the castle on the Buda side if I remember, but you probably know much more than I do...
ps: the resemblance of the second portrait to Indian artist Amrita Shergill is striking. It is her isn't it? Shergill grew up in Budapest. http://chdmuseum.nic.in/art_gallery/images/amrita-sher-gill-(master2)_.jpg
Collected here are works by artists who are forgotten, under appreciated, or little known, as well as news, reviews and ephemera from the corners of art history. Works of startling quality can be found beyond the big names in the visual arts, whether it is just one exceptional work, an area of an artists oeuvre, or an entire career worth re-examining.

Thank you for sharing these splendid images.

"Extremely unknown" - thanks for posting these magnificent works. Suggestion: you might like Hugo Scheiber.
Each one of these paintings is unique and beautiful. I am riveted. Thank you once again for making known yet another little- known artist.

Thanks for the comments Hannah and Gunther, I have checked out Scheiber, fantastic painter.
That's an interesting spot Priya, I had no idea Sher-Gil grew up in Budapest.
The eyes of the people in these paintings look at you very intensely, which I guess suggests an electric atmosphere in the artist's studio.
