By discovering this work, I wanted to re-examine “the philosopher” of Rembrandt. The light comes, certainly of the window, and of the hearth but in more there is a light which emanates from painting. it is rather unreal. Finally rather not very realistic. But it is a masterpiece. Very different from the Dutch painting of the time. Thank you.
Collected here are works by artists who are forgotten, under appreciated, or little known, as well as news, reviews and ephemera from the corners of art history. Works of startling quality can be found beyond the big names in the visual arts, whether it is just one exceptional work, an area of an artists oeuvre, or an entire career worth re-examining.

The lighting! Those cast shadows of the leaded window are divine! Lovely.
