It's the same atmosphere of "The island of the dead", Bocklin's opera...for me. Arianna

I am an new visitor here and am amazed at the collection of works. And I send my gratitude and thanks to the site host.

This particular work knocked me over. It is so powerful and bold. I can't even begin to find the words to describe my reaction to it other than I am awe struck.

And I thank Arianna for her comment about Bocklin's opera "The Island of the Dead because that sent me down another road of learning,

And I found many other roads of learning from there.

Thank you all.

Hey Joonie thanks a lot for the kind words. It's an incredible painting, you really have to imagine the impact it must have had in 1890 when it is still so powerful in 2010. Yet he's forgotten.
